●TIMING OF STARTING NEW SHOOTStarting the new shoot in autumn will result in minimal growth. If the new shoot starts too late, you may have to cultivate for another year. The best season to start the new shoot would be December or January (there are some exceptions). |
● TO INITIATE THE NEW SHOOTKeep the temperature rather low and keep the plants dry in autumn. From about one month before you expect the new shoot to start, raise the temperature and slightly increase watering to signal to the plant that the start of the growing season has come. Fertilizing should be started. |
● PROPER CONTROL FOR EACH VARIETYKnow the character of each variety. Make sure to give each a proper condition. Otherwise, you will end up with off-shoots (Keikis) in the worst case scenario. |
● TEMPERATURE OF GROWING PERIOD Recommended temperature: Night temperature 16-18℃(61-64°F), Day temperature 28-30℃(82-86°F). If the night temperature is kept 20℃(68°F) or higher, canes will be thick but very short. If it is kept too low, the result will be poor. |
● TEMPERATURE OF BLOOMING PERIODThe recommended temperatures: Night temperature -- 16-18℃(61-64°F). Lower temperature of 12-15℃(54-59°F) results in late blooming with better coloration and size of flowers. Day temperature -- 26-28℃(79-82°F). Lower temperature of 20-25℃(68-77°F) results in late blooming, but better coloration and flower sizes. |
